You are looking at the toughest gem in the mineral kingdom. Geologically, this is Nephrite Jade, roughly 200 million years old. It is often confused with Jadeite, but Nephrite is the stronger of the two.
While diamonds are the hardest material (hard to scratch), Nephrite is the toughest natural mineral (impossible to break). Its structure is made of fibers woven together like a microscopic fabric. This allows it to absorb massive impact without shattering. It is cut into a hexagon. This six-sided shape is nature’s most efficient design, combining geometric order with a material built to endure pressure.
