Ochre Jasper Bracelet I (8mm)
Every bead looks like it was painted by hand. None of them were.
Product Highlights:
- The Stone: This is ochre jasper, also known as elephant skin jasper or calligraphy stone. Every bead is covered in swirling, flowing patterns of brown, ochre, and amber that look like brushstrokes or ancient writing. The patterns are natural. They formed when iron oxide and ancient organic material were compressed together over millions of years. No two beads carry the same design.
- History: Jasper is one of the oldest stones used by humans. It appears in the Book of Exodus as one of the twelve stones on the Breastplate of Aaron, and again in the Book of Revelation as one of the foundation stones of heaven. The ancient Greeks carved jasper into seals. Throughout the ancient world, jasper was carried by travelers and warriors as a stone of protection and endurance. This specific type, ochre jasper, comes from the Himalayan mountains. Ancient swamp material like shells and plants fossilized under extreme pressure as the mountains formed. The patterns you see are the compressed record of a landscape that no longer exists.
- The Belief: In modern crystal practice, jasper is known as the supreme nurturer. It is said to strengthen stability, endurance, and grounding. Ochre jasper specifically is said to strengthen a connection to the earth and bring calm during difficult times. It is not a flashy stone. Its beauty is in its texture and depth, like holding a piece of ancient earth in your hand.
